DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is a device installed in the exhaust system of diesel engine vehicles. It filters and reduces particulate matter to enhance exhaust gas quality. There are a few things that you should know when your truck has a DPF.

1. The fuel and engine oil
Low sulfur diesel fuel (50PPm/ lower sulfur content) and low ash sulfate engine oil (R5 LE 10W-40/CJ-4 grade) are highly recommended.
2. Try to avoid low-speed operation for too long
3. Do not wash the DPF assembly with water when the vehicle is running hot or just parked. Avoid external force hitting the DPF assembly during use, and handle it with care during disassembling and assembling (ceramic products).
4. DPF regeneration (active, manual, and passive)
Active---It occurs with the green sign
on when the truck reaches a certain amount of PM (particulate matter) and mileage. The process will take approx. 3-5 minutes, and doesn’t require any input from the vehicle operator.
Manual---With the yellow sign
on, push the regeneration button to start the process in idling condition.
The vehicle operator must park it in the open, put the gear in neutral, and stop the PTO operation while turning off the external acceleration controller. Now you can push the regeneration button, and the engine speed increases automatically. The regeneration light will be on for approx. 15-20 minutes until the yellow sign is off.
Passive---In any case, push the regeneration button for more than 3 seconds in the idle state. The regeneration process can start if the yellow light flashes (the steps are the same as manual regeneration); if it doesn’t, regeneration is not required. This passive feature applies to urban distribution trucks, rental trucks, and garbage trucks. Considering the nature of business for those vehicles is not in favor of the operator to start the process, it has to be done previously.
Note: See if the oil level is within the normal range every day; frequent regeneration will aggravate the dilution of the oil, which leads to the oil level increasing significantly in a short time. To prevent further damage to the engine, go to a maintenance station for professional help if you notice that the oil level is seriously higher than usual.
