Do You Really Know How To Drive An Automatic Transmission?------GIGA VC66 will give you a new AMT experience

Jan 12, 2022

The economy has developed rapidly in recent years, and the replacement of trucks is getting faster and faster. In the past, it was only some configurations on passenger cars, but now it is also generally configured on commercial vehicles. For example, the AMT automatic transmission of the truck. It used to feel very far away, but now it has become one of the options. Everyone knows that automatic transmission models are easy to operate, light, and comfortable. No tedious ups and downs...but, is that the way it is? Anyone can drive away, but I want to ask, can everyone really drive an automatic truck? The answer must not be.

AMT automatic transmission of the truck

I have heard more than once, some drivers say how to go down a long slope with an automatic transmission truck, when the rpm is high, it will automatically upshift... It should be switched to manual mode and so on. But should it work as they say? Answer: No!

The gear map on the above two pictures

The gear map on the above two pictures, many people know that the N gear is the neutral gear, the M gear is the manual mode, and the A gear is the automatic mode. R is for reverse gear. But what are the remaining Dm, Rm, DE, DP, and R2 gears? When and under what circumstances is it used? To put it simply, the DM gear, also known as the creep mode, only has a low-speed gear, and does not automatically upshift. It can be used for climbing steep slopes, icy and snowy roads, and slippery roads. It can also be used on long slopes. RM file is also crept mode. Contrary to DM though, it's a creep mode with reverse gear.

Some trucks have C or W gears

Some trucks have C or W gears, they are also crept mode, and there are also L keys in some mini trucks. Their E/P keys represent that E is the economy mode, P is the power mode, and E/P is the switch between the economy and the power mode. This button defaults to the economy mode, which is the E model. Pressing it is the power mode, which is the P mode. The economy mode is the mode you use more under light load, the truck saves fuel at high speed, and the power mode is when the truck is under heavy load. When going down a long slope or going up a steep slope, press the E/P key in low gear. The transmission will keep up and down in the low range of two gears. Better power up hills and engine braking downhills have been achieved. The M/A key switches between automatic and manual shifting modes.

trucks torque and power are increased by 10%

Entering the era of Euro VI, Qingling Motors, the vanguard of the southwestern truck-making force, also launched a new AMT model in anticipation. The Euro VI automatic Qingling Isuzu heavy truck named GIGA VC66 has officially landed recently. After on-site observation, the reporter found that this AMT model is full of sincerity, and the overall comfort has been improved. Compared with the Euro V products, the torque and power are increased by 10%. The power is increased to 520 horsepower, and the fuel consumption is reduced to a certain extent compared with the Euro V products. The key point is that the AMT GIGA VC66 adopts the fourth-generation TraXon 12-speed manual gearbox from ZF, and the direct-speed transmission efficiency can reach 99.7%.

Heavy Truck Cab

I wonder if you have noticed that the gear lever is not perpendicular to the floor, but tilts the head position towards the angle of the driver's seat. At the GIGA VC66 promotion conference held in Guangzhou, many logistics executives praised the GIGA's good handling, and several bosses said that the GIGA's operability is the best in the truck they have driven, No.1. From the angle of the gear handle, can you also see the humanization of the giant VC66? Everything revolves around the driver, everything is for the convenience of the driver, and everything is for safety. This is the soul of the QINGLING ISUZU GIGA.
